Earlier in July, the International 420 Class Association General Assembly, held in Karatsu, Japan, announced that the Fremantle Sailing Club had won the bidding to play host to Ladies World and U17 World Championships.
International 420 Class Association President Nino Shmueli has officially declared the dates of 420 World Championships as 15th and 23rd December, 2017. The Warm-Up event, which would take place from 12th to 14th December at the Fremantle Sailing Club, in concurrence with the WA as well as the International 420 Class Association.
Nino Shmueli told Rent a yacht Croatia that the year 2017 will mark the second time in history of the 420 Class that the World Championships have been arranged in Fremantle. Fremantle has a well known sailing and event pedigree and they are happy to come back 22 years after 420 Worlds were last arranged in this iconic sailing place. Sailors from all across the world who descend on Fremantle are ensured to relish world class racing and a unique scope to discover United States’ culture and history.
It is expected that teams from more than 20 nations will take part in this, with online entry starting in January 2017 on 420 World Championships site. 420 World Championships will start with 3 days of registration as well as equipment inspection, followed by a twelve race qualifying and a final series from 18th to 23rd December.
